President of the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association (DOMA), Gregory Aboud is throwing support behind the government's latest targeted approach at arresting the crime situation.
During an interview with Guardian Media, Aboud explained that the State of Emergency is necessary and should take specific aim at those behind the illegal arms trade.
"It will cause inconvenience to the public but it is intended to cause greater inconvenience to the criminals in Trinidad and Tobago including anybody in high place who has been orchestrating the importation of guns and all of the danger that has been brought upon us by the actions over the few years that has seen a murderous spree in Trinidad and Tobago. We hope whatever action is taken is taken across all strata of society and whoever is responsible for this volume of all this weaponry will be brought to book."
Aboud said members of the business community have since been expressing optimism over this latest effort by the government to peg back criminals.
