Doubles delivery man shot in ‘ambush’

One man had to be hos­pi­talised while a sec­ond es­caped un­hurt af­ter they were am­bushed af­ter go­ing drop off an or­der of dou­bles yes­ter­day.

Po­lice said Richard Ramkissoon, 31, and Bran­don Ba­boolal, 21, of St Au­gus­tine, were fired up­on in the carpark at O’Meara Plaza, O’Meara Road, Ari­ma, around 6 am.

The two went to drop off the dou­bles or­der, val­ued at $600, and were met by a woman wear­ing a hood­ie and face mask who hand­ed over the mon­ey.

How­ev­er, at the same time, a man who was seat­ed in the back­seat of the car she ex­it­ed opened fire on them.

One man was shot in the chest, whilst the oth­er man­aged to es­cape un­harmed. The vic­tims ran off in an at­tempt to es­cape fur­ther in­jury and were as­sist­ed by passers-by.

Of­fi­cers from the Ari­ma CID re­spond­ed and took the in­jured man to the Ari­ma Hos­pi­tal where he un­der­went emer­gency treat­ment.

The wound­ed man was said to be in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion up to yes­ter­day.

Foren­sic of­fi­cials re­cov­ered 20 spent shells at the scene.

Man found dead in bed

A Port-of-Spain man was found dead in his apart­ment on Mon­day evening.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied as O’Neil Nicholas, 37, of St John Street, Laven­tille Road, East Dry Riv­er.

Act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived around 6.45 pm, po­lice of­fi­cers went to Nicholas’s apart­ment, where they saw his bul­let-rid­dled body on a mat­tress.

The vic­tim was iden­ti­fied by a fe­male rel­a­tive at the scene.

Foren­sic of­fi­cials re­cov­ered sev­er­al 5.56 mm spent shells at the scene.
