Po­lit­i­cal leader of the Pro­gres­sive De­mo­c­ra­t­ic Pa­tri­ots Wat­son Duke has re­signed with im­me­di­ate ef­fect from the post of Deputy Chief Sec­re­tary of the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) and has said he will sit on the op­po­site side of the THA, call­ing the cur­rent ex­ec­u­tive a group of "spine­less jel­ly­fish", "nau­se­at­ing" and "im­posters".

He made the an­nounce­ment as he launched his most vi­cious at­tack against Chief Sec­re­tary Far­ley Au­gus­tine at a news con­fer­ence in Barataria, Trinidad.

"Wat­son Duke is mov­ing away and al­low­ing Far­ley the full reign," he said.

"I have de­cid­ed to re­sign with im­me­di­ate ef­fect from the To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly. I wish not to be part of Far­ley and his gang. I wish not to be part of an ex­ec­u­tive run by a child and his friends who do not wish to be part of servi­tude," he said.

He vowed he will not sit with the Mi­nor­i­ty Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment but warned that the PDP mem­bers of the House will not have his sup­port.

He in­sist­ed that Au­gus­tine is lead­ing "a jel­ly­fish pack" with­out back­bones. "No­body will stand up to him. He leads a jel­ly­fish pack," he said.

He in­sist­ed that the THA is not do­ing the work it promised to do.

"Far­ley re­minds me of (for­mer PNM Chief Sec­re­tary) Orville Lon­don on steroids, full of chat. A lot of talk and presents him­self well. He presents him­self like Orville Lon­don but on steroids," he said.

"The needs of To­bag­o­ni­ans are not met and I dare say the needs of To­bag­o­ni­anas will not be met by this ex­ec­u­tive," he said.

This comes nine months af­ter the PDP-led THA de­feat­ed the PNM 14-1 in the THA elec­tions.

Duke, in his at­tack on Au­gus­tine, de­scribed him as "a lit­tle boy" and "a dic­ta­tor­ship in the mak­ing".

He said he placed the THA "in the hands of a child and he messed it up."

He said Au­gus­tine has "di­vorced him­self from the cry of the small man, in To­ba­go now".
