Political leader of the Progressive Democratic Patriots Watson Duke has resigned with immediate effect from the post of Deputy Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) and has said he will sit on the opposite side of the THA, calling the current executive a group of "spineless jellyfish", "nauseating" and "imposters".
He made the announcement as he launched his most vicious attack against Chief Secretary Farley Augustine at a news conference in Barataria, Trinidad.
"Watson Duke is moving away and allowing Farley the full reign," he said.
"I have decided to resign with immediate effect from the Tobago House of Assembly. I wish not to be part of Farley and his gang. I wish not to be part of an executive run by a child and his friends who do not wish to be part of servitude," he said.
He vowed he will not sit with the Minority People's National Movement but warned that the PDP members of the House will not have his support.
He insisted that Augustine is leading "a jellyfish pack" without backbones. "Nobody will stand up to him. He leads a jellyfish pack," he said.
He insisted that the THA is not doing the work it promised to do.
"Farley reminds me of (former PNM Chief Secretary) Orville London on steroids, full of chat. A lot of talk and presents himself well. He presents himself like Orville London but on steroids," he said.
"The needs of Tobagonians are not met and I dare say the needs of Tobagonianas will not be met by this executive," he said.
This comes nine months after the PDP-led THA defeated the PNM 14-1 in the THA elections.
Duke, in his attack on Augustine, described him as "a little boy" and "a dictatorship in the making".
He said he placed the THA "in the hands of a child and he messed it up."
He said Augustine has "divorced himself from the cry of the small man, in Tobago now".
