Renowned and highly respected educator, Dr Anna Mahase, has died at age 91 years. Reports say she died this morning at hospital.
Dr Anna Mahase was the recipient of several national awards including the Medal of Merit (Gold) (1976), and Chaconia Medal (Gold) (1990).
She was selected as one of the top 50 persons to receive the Excellence in Education and Distinguished Public Service (2012).
In 1961, at age 28 years, she was youngest principal to lead the St Augustine Girl's High School.
During her lifetime, she received an honorary degree of Doctor of Laws from Mount Allison University and another from the University of the West Indies.
