Residents of San Francique who were hoping for relief in receiving a water supply may have to wait a bit longer, while residents of Central and South-West Trinidad may be receiving low pressure or no supply.
This is because Desalination Company of Trinidad and Tobago (DESALCOTT) and the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said an electrical problem resulted in the stoppage of operations at the Point Lisas Desalination Plant, at approximately 2:00 pm on Saturday (September 2, 2023.
According to a release from WASA, DESALCOTT was able to partially restart operations, but further assessment and repairs will be required to return the facility to full production.
The Authority is continuing to liaise with DESALCOTT regarding the completion of these repair works and will provide a further update subsequently.
