Crown Point was the hub of ac­tiv­i­ty in To­ba­go and the is­land’s tourism fo­cal point. 16 days in­to April the area is a vir­tu­al ghost town. Guardian Me­dia vis­it­ed the area and saw first hand that there was no ac­tiv­i­ty at the air­port, busi­ness­es in­clud­ing small restau­rants and bars have all closed, guest hous­es are shut and the usu­al­ly packed Store Bay has the ap­pear­ance of a beach on a de­sert­ed is­land.

On Thurs­day the area was to­tal­ly de­void of hu­man life, the on­ly sounds were the birds chirp­ing on the trees and the leaves rustling on the un­cleaned con­crete walk­ways.

The sole bar on the beach was closed with its mes­sage “Though Things Don’t Last, Tough Peo­ple Do” stood as a strong mes­sage of hope.
