Crown Point was the hub of activity in Tobago and the island’s tourism focal point. 16 days into April the area is a virtual ghost town. Guardian Media visited the area and saw first hand that there was no activity at the airport, businesses including small restaurants and bars have all closed, guest houses are shut and the usually packed Store Bay has the appearance of a beach on a deserted island.
On Thursday the area was totally devoid of human life, the only sounds were the birds chirping on the trees and the leaves rustling on the uncleaned concrete walkways.
The sole bar on the beach was closed with its message “Though Things Don’t Last, Tough People Do” stood as a strong message of hope.
