A West­moor­ings woman passed away on Tues­day, hours af­ter her car crashed.

Eliz­a­beth De Vi­gnes, 77, of Dol­phin Court, West­moor­ings, was re­port­ed­ly pro­ceed­ing west along Ocean Dri­ve, West­moor­ings, around 10.38 am on No­vem­ber 26, when she re­port­ed­ly lost con­trol of her car.

Des Vi­gnes’ grey Hon­da Civic crashed in­to a clus­ter of palm trees on the south­ern side of Ocean Dri­ve, caus­ing dam­age to the front of the ve­hi­cle.

The in­jured woman was as­sist­ed by passers-by who took her to the St James In­fir­mary around noon.

As her car was be­ing tak­en to the Four Roads Po­lice Sta­tion, of­fi­cers were dis­patched to the hos­pi­tal to get a state­ment from Des Vi­gnes.

Up­on ar­rival, they were in­formed by med­ical of­fi­cials that Des Vi­gnes had passed away, and her body was trans­ferred to the Port-of-Spain Mor­tu­ary
