Simultaneous funerals were held this morning in Penal for friends Sachin Teeluckdharry and Ryan Ramnanan who both died in a vehicular crash at the Solomon Hochoy Highway over the weekend.
At Clarke Road, hundreds of people gathered at the Teeluckdharry's residence to pay tribute to him.
Pundit Sunil Seetahal-Maharaj told mourners life was too short to be unhappy.
"Live life and enjoy every moment as if this day is your last," Pundit Seetahal-Maharaj urged. He noted that no one was perfect but everyone deserved happiness.
Teeluckdharry's brother Shastri Teeluckdharry who delivered the eulogy described him as the best big brother.
"Whenever he smiled it was impossible not to smile back," Shastri said.
He expressed happiness that before his brother's death, Teeluckdharry had started fulfilling his dream of travelling the world.
"As a car enthusiast, he went to many events. He loved his van. As my big, brother I am grateful for all the love he showed me," Shastri recalled.
Teeluckdharry will be cremated later today with his favourite toy which remained in his casket during the ceremony.
Ramnanan's funeral took place at Tulsa Trace, Penal.
Teeluckdharry and Ramnanan died on Sunday morning after their van crashed into the Cipero River.
Since then, calls have been made for cable barriers to be restored on the highway to prevent fatalities.
