The body of a man found along the shore of Mayaro late on Friday, has been identified as fire officer Chester Richardson.
Richardson, 47, from Arima had been reported missing by his relatives on Friday.
He was found by a couple walking along the beach at around 11 pm.
The body was clad in a blue pair of shorts.
It is believed that he went for a swim and got into difficulties.
Police said the body bore no marks of violence.
Guardian Media was told that Richardson’s relatives owned a beach house in the area and it was believed that Richardson had been to the beach house before he went missing.
Richardson, a father of three, had been in the Fire Service for 24 years.
He was attached to the San Juan Fire Station and lived in Arima.
An autopsy is set to be conducted on his body today to confirm the cause of death.
