Randy Ra­mad­har Singh is the new chair­man of the Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny.

NGC has been with­out a chair­man for al­most three weeks as the new gov­ern­ment was seek­ing to find a suit­able re­place­ment.

The last chair­man was Dr Joseph Ishamel Khan.

Guardian Me­dia ob­tained Ra­mad­har Singh’s re­sume which states he has a PhD in Ad­vanced En­er­gy Sys­tem Analy­sis on the En­er­gy PLAN mod­el from Aal­borg Uni­ver­si­ty in Den­mark.

From 2012-2016, Ra­mad­har Singh was an ad­vi­sor on re­new­able en­er­gy to the En­er­gy Min­istry.

He al­so col­lab­o­rat­ed with oth­er Gov­ern­ment min­istries and Agen­cies to ex­pe­dite projects in re­new­able en­er­gy. And col­lab­o­ra­tion with acad­e­mia to re­view re­search in the en­er­gy sec­tor and re­new­able en­er­gy projects.

He has al­so been a con­sul­tant for var­i­ous green hy­dro­gen projects.

The oth­er di­rec­tors of the NGC board are ex­pect­ed to be an­nounced soon.

The Na­tion­al Gas Com­pa­ny and the wider NGC Group record­ed an af­ter-tax prof­it of $540 mil­lion for the nine months end­ed 30 Sep­tem­ber 2024.  

The com­pa­ny stat­ed that this rep­re­sent­ed a sig­nif­i­cant im­prove­ment of $1.8 bil­lion from the re­port­ed loss of $1.3 bil­lion for the year end­ed De­cem­ber 31, 2023, which was im­pact­ed by $1.8 bil­lion in im­pair­ment charges.

In 2024, NGC ac­quired a 20 per cent par­tic­i­pat­ing in­ter­est in the cross-bor­der Cocuina gas field, as well as car­ried a 20 per cent par­tic­i­pat­ing in­ter­est as a state en­ti­ty in each of the Charu­ma, Cipero, and Rio Claro on­shore blocks.

Al­so, the fi­nal in­vest­ment de­ci­sion was tak­en on the Beach­field Man­a­tee Up­grade on­shore Project, which is re­quired to process Shell’s Man­a­tee gas pro­duc­tion to both the do­mes­tic and LNG mar­kets.
