Three people have been arrested, as officers seized firearms, ammunition and illegal narcotics during operations conducted over the past 48 hours.
The TTPS said between 10 p.m. on October 18 and 2 a.m. on October 19, 2024, an anti-crime operation in Santa Cruz and San Juan resulted in multiple arrests. A search warrant executed at a residence located at Providence Gardens, Cantaro Village, Upper Santa Cruz reportedly uncovered a firearm with a magazine and 15 rounds of 9-mm ammunition, along with 178.60 grams of cannabis.
Two suspects were arrested. Additionally, a man of Febeau Village, Laventille Road was arrested for the offence of robbery with violence in the San Juan station district which occurred on 5th October, 2024.
The operation was spearheaded by Ag/Snr. Supt. Edwards Ag/Supt. Birch, Ag/ASP Callender, coordinated by Insp Highly and W/Ag/Insp Cumming-Clarke, supervised by Sgt Murray and W/Cpl George and included members of the Santa Cruz Police Station, Santa Cruz CID, San Juan Police Station, San Juan CID and the K-9 Unit.
Also, in the Northern Division, between 8 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Friday 18th October 2024, an intelligence-led operation in Arima, coordinated by ACP Singh and senior officers resulted in the discovery of a firearm and ammunition.
The TTPS said acting on credible information, officers proceeded to an abandoned pool house on Aripo Road. There, under a cement bag in a shed, PC Demattas found a black revolver and four rounds of .38 ammunition. The items were seized, and enquiries are ongoing.
The operation was coordinated by ACP Singh, W/Snr Supt Maynard-Wilson, Supt Guellmo, ASP Pitt, ASP Demattos and Insp Lewis, supervised by W/Sgt Ramai together with members of the Arima Operations/Intelligence Team.
