NGO For­ward Ever Foun­da­tion (FEF) has part­nered with the St. James Po­lice Youth Club to sup­port scores of at-risk youths through train­ing in film and mu­sic pro­duc­tion.

The pro­gramme will pro­vide par­tic­i­pants with hands-on skills, guid­ance, and valu­able re­sources to pur­sue ca­reers in the cre­ative in­dus­try. By par­tic­i­pat­ing in a va­ri­ety of work­shops, en­gag­ing in hands-on projects, and re­ceiv­ing guid­ance from sea­soned pro­fes­sion­als, young in­di­vid­u­als will have the op­por­tu­ni­ty to build their self-as­sur­ance, nur­ture their skills, and dis­cov­er po­ten­tial av­enues for per­son­al and pro­fes­sion­al de­vel­op­ment.

Christo­pher Din Chong, Chair­man of NGO For­ward Ever Foun­da­tion stat­ed, “As our work with the SJPYC pro­gress­es we will con­tin­ue to ex­plore our un­tapped sto­ries and beloved char­ac­ters like the Buck, La Di­a­b­lesse and Soucouyant with the help of a team of like-mind­ed lo­cal and in­ter­na­tion­al pro­duc­ers. Par­tic­i­pants will not on­ly gain prac­ti­cal knowl­edge, but they will ben­e­fit from a ca­reer guid­ance and men­tor­ship dy­nam­ic. This will be a fun ex­pe­ri­ence for all those who are in­volved, as young­sters these days love cre­at­ing con­tent and we want to pro­vide them with the nec­es­sary tools.”

Cor­po­ral Der­rick Shar­bod­ie, Man­ag­er and Founder of the St. James Po­lice Youth Club, said, “I have worked with young peo­ple for the last 32 years, and what they need is a proac­tive ap­proach. The ear­li­er you start train­ing youths, it will be much eas­i­er for them to grow and de­vel­op and show­case their many tal­ents, po­ten­tial and skills. Most young peo­ple show­case these tal­ents very ear­ly once pro­vid­ed a plat­form, a space and es­sen­tial­ly, a venue and of course an ex­cel­lent tu­tor who has the art of com­mu­ni­cat­ing and en­cour­ag­ing and em­pow­er­ing be­fore the el­e­ment get their hands on their mind.”
