NGO Forward Ever Foundation (FEF) has partnered with the St. James Police Youth Club to support scores of at-risk youths through training in film and music production.
The programme will provide participants with hands-on skills, guidance, and valuable resources to pursue careers in the creative industry. By participating in a variety of workshops, engaging in hands-on projects, and receiving guidance from seasoned professionals, young individuals will have the opportunity to build their self-assurance, nurture their skills, and discover potential avenues for personal and professional development.
Christopher Din Chong, Chairman of NGO Forward Ever Foundation stated, “As our work with the SJPYC progresses we will continue to explore our untapped stories and beloved characters like the Buck, La Diablesse and Soucouyant with the help of a team of like-minded local and international producers. Participants will not only gain practical knowledge, but they will benefit from a career guidance and mentorship dynamic. This will be a fun experience for all those who are involved, as youngsters these days love creating content and we want to provide them with the necessary tools.”
Corporal Derrick Sharbodie, Manager and Founder of the St. James Police Youth Club, said, “I have worked with young people for the last 32 years, and what they need is a proactive approach. The earlier you start training youths, it will be much easier for them to grow and develop and showcase their many talents, potential and skills. Most young people showcase these talents very early once provided a platform, a space and essentially, a venue and of course an excellent tutor who has the art of communicating and encouraging and empowering before the element get their hands on their mind.”
