Four per­sons were ar­rest­ed on sus­pi­cion of be­ing in­volved in gang re­lat­ed ac­tiv­i­ties this morn­ing, by of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT).

Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cial po­lice re­ports, at about 5:30am, SORT of­fi­cers, with help from the Ca­nine Branch, were con­duct­ing an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in the D’Abadie dis­trict. They were ex­e­cut­ing sev­er­al search war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed at dif­fer­ent homes for il­le­gal firearms and am­mu­ni­tion.

Po­lice con­firm that three male sus­pects, in­clud­ing an ex-mem­ber of the Trinidad and To­ba­go De­fence Force (TTDF), were ar­rest­ed dur­ing the ex­er­cis­es and sub­se­quent­ly tak­en to the Mal­oney Po­lice Sta­tion for ques­tion­ing.

A fourth sus­pect, who sus­tained a mi­nor in­jury to his arm dur­ing the ex­er­cise, was tak­en to the Ari­ma dis­trict hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

A quan­ti­ty of TTDF is­sued cloth­ing was al­so seized dur­ing the ex­er­cise.
