Four held following home invasion

Four men were held fol­low­ing a home in­va­sion in  D'Abadie yes­ter­day. Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, of­fi­cers re­spond­ed to a re­port of a rob­bery in D'Abadie around 2pm and ob­served a ve­hi­cle with four oc­cu­pants pro­ceed­ing south along the Mau­si­ca Road and gave chase. Dur­ing the in­ci­dent there was an ex­change of gun­fire and the four men were sub­se­quent­ly held. 

The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the TTPS: 

Four men were held and a firearm was seized with­in min­utes of a re­port­ed home in­va­sion in­ci­dent in the Ari­ma dis­trict yes­ter­day af­ter­noon, fol­low­ing swift and co­or­di­nat­ed work by of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion.

Of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­son Task Force Area North, re­spond­ing to a re­port of rob­bery with ag­gra­va­tion in the D’Abadie dis­trict around 2 pm, on Wednes­day 6th April, 2022, ob­served a ve­hi­cle with four oc­cu­pants pro­ceed­ing south along the Mau­si­ca Road and gave chase.

Dur­ing the in­ci­dent, there was an ex­change of gun­fire be­tween the sus­pects and the of­fi­cers. The four men were sub­se­quent­ly held and a firearm was seized. One of the sus­pects who was nurs­ing a gun­shot wound was tak­en to hos­pi­tal for treat­ment. The ex­er­cise in­volved of­fi­cers of the Mal­oney Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), Ari­ma CID, the North­ern Di­vi­son Task Force Gang Unit and the Road Polic­ing Task Force.

Mean­while, an an­ti-crime ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed in the Ari­ma and Mal­abar dis­tricts be­tween 1 pm and 8 pm, on Wednes­day 6th April, 2022, by of­fi­cers of the Ari­ma Op­er­a­tions Unit, the Mal­abar Crime Pa­trol Unit and the Ca­nine Unit. The ex­er­cise was spear­head­ed by ACP Sama­roo, Snr. Supt. Pa­ponette, Supt. Ed­wards and co­or­di­nat­ed by ASP Et­tiene and In­sp. Ramharack.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, sev­er­al search war­rants were ex­e­cut­ed at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions. Then, act­ing on in­for­ma­tion re­ceived, of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to an open un­oc­cu­pied lot of land lo­cat­ed at Train­line, Mal­abar, where they con­duct­ed a thor­ough search. The search re­sult­ed in of­fi­cers find­ing one pis­tol fit­ted with a mag­a­zine, along with a quan­ti­ty of co­caine. A quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na was al­so found at an­oth­er lo­ca­tion in the Ari­ma dis­trict. In­ves­ti­ga­tions are on­go­ing.
