Four men are expected to appear virtually before a Tunapuna Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Trevlayne Dedier, which occurred on Friday 27th August 2021.
The men, who are all of Tunapuna, also face charges of possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
The four accused are: ANTHONY THOMAS, aka ‘Anthony Lewis’ and ‘Scoogie’, 30; JERRON BAPTISTE, aka ‘Bush’, 27; SHAKEEM GOODRIDGE, 22; and JAHIEM LEWIS, 19.
Advice to lay the charges came from Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Roger Gaspard SC, on Saturday 4th September 2021.
According to official police reports, on Friday 27th August 2021, Trevlayne Dedier, 33, of Upper Fairley Street, Tunapuna, was in the company of several other persons at the corner of Achong and Fairley Streets, Tunapuna, when a blue Nissan Wingroad motor vehicle pulled up and three gunmen exited. The assailants fired several shots in the direction of the group before escaping in the vehicle in which they came.
Dedier was later found dead with gunshot wounds about his body.
Officers of the Northern Division Task Force responded to the incident and arrested four suspects at Thompson Street, Tunapuna, on the same day as the shooting incident.
Investigations were supervised by ASP Lindon Douglas, Insp. Hosein, W/Insp (Ag.) Sylvester and Insp. Ramjag, all of Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI), Region 2.
The four accused were charged by PC Ramdial, also of HBI Region 2, on Sunday 5th September 2021.
