The Four Roads Fire Station has been closed until further notice after a fire officer working there contracted the COVID-19 virus.
The announcement came via a media release from the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service yesterday.
The statement said that as a precautionary measure, all other personnel who came into contact with the officer have been advised to self-quarantine until they have been tested and cleared by the Ministry of Health.
It added that additionally, the station has been sanitised and the process was repeated since then to ensure that it is once more habitable for personnel to resume their daily duties.
The Fire Service said that temporary coverage for the areas serviced by the Four Roads station has been implemented and all emergency calls can be directed to the Chaguaramas or the Woodbrook Fire Stations.
“The Chief Fire Officer assures the public that the Trinidad and Tobago Fire Service will continue to comply with the guidelines set out by the Ministry of Health throughout all its divisions during this pandemic and emplores citizens and employees to exercise sanitisation and social distancing practices,” the statement said.
Last month, the Siparia and Tunapuna Police Stations were also temporarily closed as a result of officers testing positive for COVID-19.
