Relatives have planned a joint funeral today in Mayaro for siblings Shenelle and Keston Singh.
Sixteen-year-old Shenelle and Keston, 21, will be in separate caskets. The service will be held at 1 pm at their grandmother’s home at Lewis and Sucre Streets, followed by the interment at the Ortoire Cemetery. Their murders left not only relatives and friends heartbroken, but also the community where the tragedy occurred.
Shenelle and her brother were allegedly at the home of Vishnu Badal at Naggee Road, New Grant, Princes Town, on September 4, when they were chopped to death with a cutlass.
Shenelle’s body was discovered on the ground a short distance away from the house while her brother’s body was found slumped on a couch in the gallery. There were chop wounds across Shenelle’s face and on her brother’s neck and feet.
Shenelle was a student of Mayaro Secondary and her brother was a security guard. Shenelle lived in Mayaro but was visiting her brother, who moved into the Naggee Road community about a year ago.
Badal, 33, was arrested the day after the horrific incident and has since been charged with their murders. He appeared in court on September 9 and was remanded into custody.
