Rel­a­tives have planned a joint fu­ner­al to­day in Ma­yaro for sib­lings Shenelle and Ke­ston Singh.

Six­teen-year-old Shenelle and Ke­ston, 21, will be in sep­a­rate cas­kets. The ser­vice will be held at 1 pm at their grand­moth­er’s home at Lewis and Su­cre Streets, fol­lowed by the in­ter­ment at the Or­toire Ceme­tery. Their mur­ders left not on­ly rel­a­tives and friends heart­bro­ken, but al­so the com­mu­ni­ty where the tragedy oc­curred.

Shenelle and her broth­er were al­leged­ly at the home of Vish­nu Badal at Naggee Road, New Grant, Princes Town, on Sep­tem­ber 4, when they were chopped to death with a cut­lass.

Shenelle’s body was dis­cov­ered on the ground a short dis­tance away from the house while her broth­er’s body was found slumped on a couch in the gallery. There were chop wounds across Shenelle’s face and on her broth­er’s neck and feet.

Shenelle was a stu­dent of Ma­yaro Sec­ondary and her broth­er was a se­cu­ri­ty guard. Shenelle lived in Ma­yaro but was vis­it­ing her broth­er, who moved in­to the Naggee Road com­mu­ni­ty about a year ago.

Badal, 33, was ar­rest­ed the day af­ter the hor­rif­ic in­ci­dent and has since been charged with their mur­ders. He ap­peared in court on Sep­tem­ber 9 and was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody.
