The son of a well-known gang leader cur­rent­ly is in po­lice cus­tody.

The sus­pect was de­tained by of­fi­cers of the Spe­cial Op­er­a­tions Re­sponse Team (SORT) in Cou­va just af­ter 9 this morn­ing.

Se­nior in­tel­li­gence sources told Guardian Me­dia that po­lice re­cov­ered one firearm and am­mu­ni­tion so far at a house in Son­ny Ladoo Trace, Mc Bean Cou­va.

Po­lice al­so seized more than $50,000 in cash.

The op­er­a­tion was dri­ven by in­tel­li­gence ob­tained by SORT and is on­go­ing.

The de­tained man’s fa­ther cur­rent­ly is in prison.
