The girl­friend of a sus­pend­ed po­lice of­fi­cer was shot by gun­men as she vis­it­ed with him on Tues­day af­ter­noon at his home.

The 34-year-old woman of Tumpuna Road, Cu­mu­to was said to have ar­rived at the of­fi­cer’s home at Tulip Lane, La Hor­quet­ta around 2.30 pm on Au­gust 29 – when she ob­served two men ap­proach­ing her car in which she was seat­ed.

Ad­vis­ing her boyfriend to go in­side as she drove off, it was al­leged the armed sus­pects rushed to her car and at­tempt­ed to open the door.

As the woman ac­cel­er­at­ed, the men fired at her, hit­ting her in both fore­arms.

The in­jured woman drove her­self to the La Hor­quet­ta Po­lice Sta­tion where she was as­sist­ed by po­lice of­fi­cers and tak­en to the Ari­ma Health Fa­cil­i­ty where she was treat­ed for two gun­shot wounds to both arms and list­ed in a sta­ble con­di­tion.

A to­tal of 12 spent 9 mm shell cas­ings and one live round of 9 mm am­mu­ni­tion was re­cov­ered at the scene.
