The Trinidad and Tobago Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is hoping to complete repair works on a sewer system at Cypress Hills, where a sinkhole developed last Friday, by this Thursday, September 1, 2022.
An official statement from the company reports the sinkhole, which developed on Friday, August 25, is the result of escaped pressurized wastewater from a leaking sewer force main line.

“Immediately an HDC team was dispatched to clean and secure the affected area,” HDC explains. “The following morning [Saturday], an assessment was conducted, and the main contractor was contacted to repair or replace the faulty line.”
HDC says repair work began on Monday, August 29.
“The HDC and its contractors are working assiduously to resolve this matter,” the company assured.
It added: “Work is expected to be completed by Thursday, weather permitting.”
