RHONDOR DOWLAT-ROSTANT
Police officers have identified the headless body which was found earlier this week off the coast of Toco. It is said to be that of Alvaro Cova Carrion who is originally from Tucupita in Venezuela. However, his head is yet to be found.
Police said the body was positively identified by Carrion's best friend of 15 years by the tattoo in the back that read "Leonora Isabel."
Guardian Media understands Carrion’s friend told police that he last saw Carrion alive several months ago in the Cunupia area. Police said they were told that Carrion has been residing in Trinidad for the past two years.
Last Monday, a couple who was fishing at a beach in Toco made a horrific discovery of the headless corpse floating on the waters.
According to a police report, at about 5:40 pm on Monday 7th March 2022, Ag Cpl Telesford and PC Harrinanan responded to a report of a body floating off Penzance beach Toco.
Upon arrival at the scene, the officers met a 30-year-old woman and a 50-year-old man who both told them that while fishing, at about 5:15 pm they saw a body floating about 150 feet away from the shoreline and called the police.
A 35-year-old Penzance resident reportedly swam out to sea using a rope and retrieved the body and brought it back to the shore.
Investigations are ongoing.
