Hunters Search and Rescue Team yesterday joined the search for missing Tobago fisherman Atiba Williams.
Williams, of Goodwood Village, has been missing at sea since last Thursday. His boat was found on Sunday at Canoe Bay at Crown Point.
The boat’s engine was intact but the side of the boat was damaged.
After searching the land and sea for eight hours, however, volunteers and fishermen found no clues as to his whereabouts.
The Hunters Search and Rescue Team got involved in the search after it was contacted by Williams’ relatives on Tuesday.
Led by Commander Ren Gopeesingh and Captain Vallence Rambharat, the group used a vessel donated by Tobago fisherman Kester John, who has also been searching for Williams.
Williams’ cousin, Shaquille Williams also participated in the search which started around 8 am from Rocky Bay, Lambeau and ended at Canoe Bay, Crown Point.
Public Service Association president and Progressive Democratic Patriots leader Watson Duke had called on members to observe a moment of prayer on Monday at 8 am for Williams’ safe return.
Williams is also a craftsman assigned to the Tobago Services Division. In a Facebook post, the Signal Hill Secondary School, where Williams attended school, also prayed that he would be found alive and well.
The post read, “Heavenly Father, we ask you to send your angels to encamp around Atiba, and guide him home safely. We also ask you to strengthen his loved ones, and grant them your peace which passes all understanding at this time. AMEN. Signal Hill Family let us continue to lift him up in prayer.”
The Hunters group returned to Trinidad yesterday.
However, other searches are still ongoing.
