This year's Independence Day parade will begin at Memorial Park, Port-of-Spain, instead of the traditional Queen's Park Savannah. The change is to facilitate members of the public who have been complaining over the years about the poor view they had of the parade from the savannah. The announcement was made yesterday by Defence Force Warrant Officer Esther Daniel during a news conference at which she also outlined the format for this year's event.
The conference was held at the Ministry of National Security, Abercromby Street, Port-of-Spain. The parade will begin on Keate Street proceeding north along Charlotte Street, west along Queen's Park West, south into Chancery Lane, east into Keate Street, south along Frederick Street, west into Park Street, into Tragarete Road and continue in a westerly direction into the Police Training College in St James where the parade ends.
