A police officer who was shot while responding to a shooting in east Port-of-Spain on Monday night is recovering at hospital. A senior police official yesterday said that PC Shakala Charles of the Guard and Emergency Branch “is stable at this time.”
The lawman was shot on St Paul Street, East Dry River, as he responded to the shooting of a 26-year-old man from North Post Road, Diego Martin, on the same street.
That victim, who remained in critical condition at hospital yesterday, had gone to St Paul Street to take the mother of his children home after they went out to celebrate his birthday.
