Works and Infrastructure Minister Suruj Rambachan has accused television broadcaster and businessman Inshan Ishmael of personally targeting him and his family for the last couple of years. While Rambachan said his recourse was the law, he did not confirm whether he had reported Ishmael to the police. Ishmael, however, said he was not backing down.
Rambachan made the disclosure after cutting the ribbon to open the $9 million Endeavour Roundabout in Chaguanas, which he said would help reduce traffic in the borough.
Work on the roundabout, which began last August, was undertaken by Danny Enterprises Company Ltd.
Rambachan was commenting on a Facebook post of Ishmael, who described the quality of work on the roundabout as "the worst" he had seen.
"Only Inshan Ishmael knows why he is doing that. But it is disgusting to say the least...what he is doing. There is always recourse that I have the law in order to deal with these matters.
"I am not interested in Ishmael's politics. I am interested in the safety and security of my family."
Asked if he had reported Ishmael to the police, Rambachan responded, "There is always the facility of law to deal with these matters."
Yesterday, Ishmael said he was not afraid of Rambachan. "I would not give up."
Ishmael said he would continue to expose where taxpayers dollars are used for private purposes.
"This week, I plan to reveal more. I am a media person and it is my duty to bring these things out in the public. So he is talking rubbish." (SH)
