The texture of someone's hair or the colour of their skin is not important in achieving success, one must possess integrity if they want to reach the top of the ladder.
This was the view of family physician Dr Claude Khan as he delivered the feature address yesterday at Naparima College prize-giving ceremony and dedication. The theme for this year function was titled–Striving for Excellence in a Transformational Environment.
Reiterating that one must possess the fundamental value of integrity if they wanted to reach the stars, Khan said, "If you have a vision for change, be careful with whom you share your vision with. It is very unfortunate that someone will do all in its power to drive a wedge with people waiting to exceed. It is not about the texture of your hair or colour of skin, brush them off."
Making reference to some politicians , Khan said many of them were lacking integrity. "We need integrity especially in this country because the behaviour of some politicians showed that they had no integrity," he said.
However, he urged the students to continue striving for the highest although at time "haters" tend to cause distraction. Also speaking at the ceremony was principal Michael Dowlath who said despite the success of the college, the administration was still looking for ways to improve the school. Outstanding students in Forms I to IV and Lower VI received certificates for their performance in both academic and extra curricula activities.
