“Jaffa” charged with wounding with intent

Joshua Roberts, aka” Jaf­fa”, 33, of Ja­cob Coates San­gre Grande, was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody af­ter ap­pear­ing in court charged with wound­ing with in­tent.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, on Feb­ru­ary 22nd, of­fi­cers of the San­gre Grande Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID) re­spond­ed to a re­port of a loud ex­plo­sion at North East­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande.

On ar­rival, the of­fi­cers were told that some­one was shot and tak­en to the hos­pi­tal
The of­fi­cers pro­ceed­ed to the hos­pi­tal, where they in­ter­viewed the vic­tim, a 33-year-old man, of But­ter Cup Av­enue, North East­ern Set­tle­ment, San­gre Grande, who was suf­fer­ing from gun­shot in­juries to the left side of his knee.

The vic­tim told of­fi­cers that he was walk­ing along Ja­cob Coats Av­enue, when he was con­front­ed by a man he knows, who point­ed a gun at him and fired.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions were con­duct­ed by In­sp. Cal­len­der, Sgt. Harp­er and Cpl Guy, which led to the ar­rest of Joshua Roberts, a for­mer Spe­cial Re­serve Of­fi­cer (SRP).

The ac­cused was charged on six counts: wound­ing with in­tent, pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to en­dan­ger life, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life, dis­charg­ing a firearm with­in 40 me­tres of a pub­lic road.
Roberts is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear in court on Thurs­day, 25th March, 2021.
