Joshua Roberts, aka” Jaffa”, 33, of Jacob Coates Sangre Grande, was remanded into custody after appearing in court charged with wounding with intent.
According to police reports, on February 22nd, officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department (CID) responded to a report of a loud explosion at North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande.
On arrival, the officers were told that someone was shot and taken to the hospital
The officers proceeded to the hospital, where they interviewed the victim, a 33-year-old man, of Butter Cup Avenue, North Eastern Settlement, Sangre Grande, who was suffering from gunshot injuries to the left side of his knee.
The victim told officers that he was walking along Jacob Coats Avenue, when he was confronted by a man he knows, who pointed a gun at him and fired.
Investigations were conducted by Insp. Callender, Sgt. Harper and Cpl Guy, which led to the arrest of Joshua Roberts, a former Special Reserve Officer (SRP).
The accused was charged on six counts: wounding with intent, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm to endanger life, possession of ammunition to endanger life, discharging a firearm within 40 metres of a public road.
Roberts is expected to reappear in court on Thursday, 25th March, 2021.
