The 32-year-old suspect, who was held in connection with the death of Angelica Jogie at Pigeon Point beach, has been released pending further investigation.
The suspect was arrested at his Canaan home early on April 9, 2026, a few hours after he allegedly crashed his jet ski into seven-year-old Angelica, her parents, and an uncle.
Angelica was pronounced dead at the Scarborough General Hospital on April 8, 2026. Her family and thousands of mourners across the country said their goodbyes during her funeral on Saturday (April 18, 2026) at her home in Monkey Town, Barrackpore.
In recent interviews with Guardian Media, Senior Superintendent Rodhill Kirk said the police would not compromise accuracy for speed in the investigation.
He confirmed that several witnesses still were to be interviewed and assured that the police will leave no stone unturned to uncover the facts surrounding Angelica’s death.
Snr Supt Kirk told Guardian Media when all information is gathered, the police will approach the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice on how to proceed further.
