A High Court order has barred goat grazing at Hardial Park in Tunapuna, resolving a nearly decade-long dispute that the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) said had hindered the park’s intended use for organised sports and recreation.
The TPRC secured a legal victory, with the court restraining a resident and his agents from allowing livestock to graze on the grounds.
Justice Westmin James ordered the grazing to stop immediately.
Residents and sporting groups had raised concerns for over nine years about animals damaging the field, creating unsanitary conditions, and disrupting community use.
The corporation said it will “commence restoration works immediately” and plans to collaborate with “local clubs, schools, and community groups to revitalise the park and reinstate sporting events and programmes.”
