A 17-year-old boy was de­nied bail and re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody when he ap­peared vir­tu­al­ly be­fore Mas­ter Vigel Paul at the Chil­dren’s Court, Port of Spain, on 29th De­cem­ber 2021, charged with one count sex­u­al touch­ing and one count of sex­u­al pen­e­tra­tion.

A re­lease from the Po­lice Ser­vice says he is ex­pect­ed to reap­pear vir­tu­al­ly on 25th Jan­u­ary 2022 for sen­tenc­ing.

The state­ment from the Po­lice State­ment notes that on Tues­day 21st De­cem­ber 2021, the vic­tim re­port­ed that while at her home with her two sib­lings, a teenage boy called her in­to a room and caused her to touch his pri­vate part and then sex­u­al­ly pen­e­trat­ed her.

The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed for the of­fense on 23rd De­cem­ber 2021 and charged on 29th De­cem­ber 2021. He was not called up­on to plead and was re­mand­ed in­to cus­tody at a youth fa­cil­i­ty.

The mat­ter was in­ves­ti­gat­ed by Cpl. Kar­mody and was su­per­vised W/Supt Guy-Al­leyne (Ag), Asp Roberts (Ag), In­sp Charles, W/Sgt Hospedales and Sgt (Ag) Jairam.
