Heavy morning showers and thunderstorms have led to street and flash flooding across Port of Spain and surrounding areas.
Flooding in lower Port of Spain, at lower Richmond Street, and City Gate, South Quay, has left roadways temporarily impassable.
Flooding has also occurred across parts of Champ Fleurs, Mount Lambert, San Juan, El Socorro, Morvant, Barataria, Lavantille, St. Ann’s, and Diego Martin.
While there are no alerts, watches, or warnings from the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service at this time, in their 10:00 AM forecast, they warned, “Gusty winds and street/flash flooding can occur near heavy showers or thunderstorms.”
This weather is associated with the Intertropical Convergence Zone lifting across Trinidad and Tobago ahead of an approaching tropical wave, which is set to move across the country overnight through tomorrow.
