A 27-year-old man is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trate to­mor­row charged with rob­bing and as­sault­ing a pen­sion­er. The sus­pect was pos­i­tive­ly iden­ti­fied by the vic­tim dur­ing an iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rade. The fol­low­ing is a press re­lease from the TTPS:

A 27-year-old man is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear vir­tu­al­ly be­fore a Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trate to­mor­row charged with rob­bery with vi­o­lence. The sus­pect, who lives at Holo­lo Road, San­ta Cruz, was ar­rest­ed on No­vem­ber 3rd and charged to­day by PC Castil­lo, of the San­ta Cruz Crim­i­nal In­ves­ti­ga­tions De­part­ment (CID), fol­low­ing a po­lice re­port in June 2021, in which a pen­sion­er told po­lice that he was as­sault­ed and robbed by three men.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, at 11 pm on June 17th, 2021, a man was at his San­ta Cruz home when three men ap­proached him. Po­lice were told that one of the men held the home­own­er in a head­lock, while two oth­ers dealt him sev­er­al blows about the body. The home­own­er was lat­er robbed of $300 and his cell phone. San­ta Cruz CID de­tec­tives sub­se­quent­ly in­ves­ti­gat­ed the mat­ter and two sus­pects, a 21-year-old and 27-year-old were ar­rest­ed, pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries.

Dur­ing an iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rade, the 27-year-old sus­pect was pos­i­tive­ly iden­ti­fied. Fol­low­ing the ex­e­cu­tion of a search war­rant at the home of a sus­pect, po­lice al­leged­ly re­cov­ered the stolen cell phone. The man was lat­er charged with rob­bery with vi­o­lence. PC Castil­lo is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions.
