A 27-year-old man is expected to appear virtually before a Port-of-Spain Magistrate tomorrow charged with robbery with violence. The suspect, who lives at Hololo Road, Santa Cruz, was arrested on November 3rd and charged today by PC Castillo, of the Santa Cruz Criminal Investigations Department (CID), following a police report in June 2021, in which a pensioner told police that he was assaulted and robbed by three men.
According to police reports, at 11 pm on June 17th, 2021, a man was at his Santa Cruz home when three men approached him. Police were told that one of the men held the homeowner in a headlock, while two others dealt him several blows about the body. The homeowner was later robbed of $300 and his cell phone. Santa Cruz CID detectives subsequently investigated the matter and two suspects, a 21-year-old and 27-year-old were arrested, pending further enquiries.
During an identification parade, the 27-year-old suspect was positively identified. Following the execution of a search warrant at the home of a suspect, police allegedly recovered the stolen cell phone. The man was later charged with robbery with violence. PC Castillo is continuing investigations.
