A 32-year-old man of Gulf View, La Romain, escaped death after he was ambushed by gunmen after leaving his friend’s home in Siparia yesterday morning. He told police he was liming at his friend’s home at Seukaran Trace, Saltmine Trace, Thick Village, but left around 12.10 am.
While driving in his white Hyundai H100 van along a private roadway from his friend’s yard, he heard several rapid gunshots and stopped. In front of his car, he saw two gunmen wearing black hoodies who fired at him. Fearing for his life, he quickly reversed into a yard, hurriedly exited his vehicle and ran towards his friend’s home. It was only then he realised that he had been shot in his abdomen and left leg. He was taken to the Siparia District Health Facility and transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital in stable condition. Officers of the South Western Division responded, and PC Constantine is investigating.—Sascha Wilson
