A 26-year-old man has ap­peared be­fore a Mas­ter of the High Court, charged with the mur­der of Roger Bai­ley, which oc­curred on Oc­to­ber 27, 2024.

Ed­win Mar­tinez (al­so known as ‘Span­ish’)—of Orop­une Gar­dens, Pi­ar­co, and Ar­gyle Street, Bel­mont—al­so was charged with Pos­ses­sion of a Firearm, Pos­ses­sion of Am­mu­ni­tion, and Rob­bery with Ag­gra­va­tion, when he ap­peared be­fore Mas­ter Shabi­ki Caz­abon, at High Court North 'A', on Mon­day 4 No­vem­ber 2024.

The Suf­fi­cien­cy Hear­ing date was set for No­vem­ber 20, 2025.

Roger Bai­ley, 49, of La Hor­quet­ta, al­leged­ly was shot in the neck by a male as­sailant dur­ing a rob­bery on Oc­to­ber 27, 2024. He died at the scene.

A male sus­pect was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the mat­ter on the same day by of­fi­cers of the North­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, Area North.

Ed­win Mar­tinez was charged with the of­fences on No­vem­ber 3, 2024, by PC Lopez, al­so at­tached to HBI Re­gion Two, fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on Fri­day, No­vem­ber 1.
