One firearm, a quantity of ammunition, and drugs were seized during anti-crime exercises in the Tableland Policing District on Wednesday.
According to police reports, at approximately 3:00 PM, officers, acting on intelligence information, proceeded to a bushy area along Gunness Trace, Nohar Road, Tableland. During a search, a black plastic wrap was discovered containing two blocks of cannabis inside a cylindrical metal pipe. The narcotic, which weighed 1075 grams, was secured and has an estimated street value of $107,500.
Further investigations led officers to a market stall located along the Naparima Mayaro Road, Tableland, where 72 grams of cannabis were found and seized. The 25-year-old proprietor of the stall was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Officers then proceeded to a lot of land off Nohar Road, Robert Village, Tableland. Beneath a slab of concrete, a black plastic bag was discovered containing a firearm, loaded with five rounds of .38 Spl ammunition. Additionally, four more rounds of .38 Spl ammunition were found inside the same black plastic bag. The items were secured and transported to the Tableland Police Station.
