A 56-year-old man was beaten and robbed in Point Fortin on Wednesday night while on his way to find a taxi to take him home.
According to a police report, around 1 am, the man left Chin Kit Park and walked towards Adventure Road, Point Fortin, where he planned to wait for a taxi.
However, when he reached the area of Club Square Deal Bar, he was accosted by three men.
One of the men was bareback and armed with a cutlass.
Another asked the victim, “Wah yuh have for meh?”
The victim did not answer.
Another suspect then grabbed him from behind and held him by the neck before taking his gold Cuban link chain, valued at $15,000.
The victim and the suspects began fighting, during which he was struck several times about the body.
A man who knows the victim later took him to the Point Fortin Hospital, where he was treated and diagnosed with a fractured jaw.
He was subsequently transferred to the San Fernando General Hospital for a CT scan because of additional injuries to his neck and for further treatment, if necessary.
Police are continuing investigations.
