A 27-year-old man was shot and in­jured dur­ing a shoot­ing in­ci­dent in East Port-of-Spain on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, around 2 pm res­i­dents heard sev­er­al gun­shots and then saw two masked men run­ning along So­bri­an Place, East Dry Riv­er.

Up­on check­ing, of­fi­cers found the vic­tim on the ground bleed­ing from mul­ti­ple gun­shot in­juries to the low­er back and legs.

The vic­tim was tak­en to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal where he re­mains in crit­i­cal con­di­tion.

Mean­while, in an un­re­lat­ed in­ci­dent, a woman who was shot in the Champs Fleurs area on Au­gust 31 suc­cumbed to her in­juries last Fri­day morn­ing.

Ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port, Javon Cyrus was at Quar­ry Ex­ten­sion, Mt Hope Road, Champ Fleurs when she was shot mul­ti­ple times by gun­men.

Po­lice said res­i­dents heard the gun­shots and lat­er spot­ted Cyrus on the ground bleed­ing.

She was tak­en to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex where she had been re­ceiv­ing med­ical treat­ment. How­ev­er, she suc­cumbed to her in­juries on Fri­day morn­ing.

Po­lice are said to be search­ing for the shoot­ers and are ask­ing any­one with in­for­ma­tion about the in­ci­dent to anony­mous­ly re­port it via 800-TIPS, 555, 482-GARY or via the TTPS mo­bile app.
