A 27-year-old man was shot and injured during a shooting incident in East Port-of-Spain on Monday afternoon.
According to a police report, around 2 pm residents heard several gunshots and then saw two masked men running along Sobrian Place, East Dry River.
Upon checking, officers found the victim on the ground bleeding from multiple gunshot injuries to the lower back and legs.
The victim was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, a woman who was shot in the Champs Fleurs area on August 31 succumbed to her injuries last Friday morning.
According to a police report, Javon Cyrus was at Quarry Extension, Mt Hope Road, Champ Fleurs when she was shot multiple times by gunmen.
Police said residents heard the gunshots and later spotted Cyrus on the ground bleeding.
She was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex where she had been receiving medical treatment. However, she succumbed to her injuries on Friday morning.
Police are said to be searching for the shooters and are asking anyone with information about the incident to anonymously report it via 800-TIPS, 555, 482-GARY or via the TTPS mobile app.
