A 57-year-old man who was beaten with a rolling pin in Freeport on Boxing Day during a domestic dispute has died.
Bharath Babooram, of Tewarie Circular South, Arena Road, succumbed to his injuries at the San Fernando General Hospital yesterday.
Initial report stated that Babooram’s niece was leaving her home around 8 pm on December 26 when a neighbour informed her that a man was beating his relative in the road.
Based on past experiences, she suspected it involved her uncle. When she got to Babooram’s home, she found him lying on his back, bleeding profusely from his ear, nose and mouth. Police said that a relative told her that the devil had beaten his father.
The EHS ambulance took Babooram to the Couva Health Facility where he was treated and then transferred to the San Fernando hospital. A 27-year-old close male relative is assisting police in their investigations.
Officers of the Homicide Bureau Region 3 are investigating.
