A 26-year-old man drowned at Yarra Beach, North Coast, Trinidad on Independence Day.

The victim was identified as Uzziel Adams of Corner 10th Avenue and 10th Street, Barataria.

According to a police report, at about 5:30 pm Adams was in the water with two friends when he got out to put on his goggles and snorkels and re-entered the water.

Adams was then seen swimming out pass the rocks and approximately ten minutes after his friends saw him they realized they lost sight of him and began scanning the water looking for him.

After scanning the water for about 30 minutes they contacted E-999.

W/Ag/Cpl Lewis contacted the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard for assistance with searching for the victim, however, due to sunset, the Coast Guard indicated that divers would be at the location at first light on Friday morning to commence the search.

Adams' body was later found and fished out of the waters.

PC Bandoo of the Blanchisseuse Police Station is investigating.
