Police are still trying to identify a man who was found dead in an outdoor washroom in Chaguanas on Monday morning.
Investigators said the man, who was stabbed to death, was discovered lying on the floor of the outdoor area around 6 am by the homeowner, who had gone out to use the toilet and shower.
Officers arrived at the house at Charles Trace, which is off Goodwill Street, Enterprise, to find the victim dead.
The owner said he awoke around 6 am and went out to relieve himself when he stumbled upon the body. The toilet and bath, which adjoins the home and is separated by a corridor, is open and unsecured in an unfinished concrete structure. The victim, who is of African descent and dark in complexion, was said to be medium in build and approximately 5’7” tall. He was lying on his back in the washroom, clad in long blue jeans, a black hoodie t-shirt and bare feet. He bore stab wounds about his head, face and neck.
Officers found pieces of a broken bottle near the body.
Police suspect the man had run towards the house, as footprints and droplets of blood were observed coming from the main access road. Officers believe he ran to the washroom to hide but collapsed and died.
