One man has been killed in a po­lice-in­volved shoot­ing. The de­ceased has been iden­ti­fied on­ly as "Aki".

Guardian Me­dia un­der­stands that the man was shot dur­ing an An­ti-Ex­tor­tion Unit op­er­a­tion in Ch­agua­nas, where po­lice re­cov­ered a 'one-pop' shot gun.

Po­lice say around 4:30 am, of­fi­cers at­tached to the An­ti-Ex­tor­tion Unit, while on op­er­a­tional du­ty in a marked po­lice ve­hi­cle, pro­ceed­ed to a res­i­dence along Soogrim Trace off En­deav­our Road.

Up­on ar­rival at the lo­ca­tion, of­fi­cers an­nounced their pres­ence and at­tempt­ed to ap­pre­hend the sus­pect, “Aki”. How­ev­er, the sus­pect re­port­ed­ly opened fire on the ap­proach­ing of­fi­cers who re­turned fire and struck him.

The op­er­a­tion was part of an on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­to a re­port of con­spir­a­cy to com­mit mur­der, with “Aki” iden­ti­fied as a prime sus­pect.

Po­lice say he was im­me­di­ate­ly trans­port­ed to the Ch­agua­nas Health Fa­cil­i­ty for emer­gency treat­ment, where he suc­cumbed to his in­juries a short time lat­er.
