A man is dead and two oth­er rel­a­tives left wound­ed fol­low­ing a knife-ram­page al­leged­ly by an in­tel­lec­tu­al dis­abled rel­a­tive. The bru­tal and bloody at­tack oc­curred at about 2.15 am at a house lo­cat­ed at Field Trace, Wa­ter­wheel Road in Diego Mar­tin. The de­ceased was iden­ti­fied as Michael Vial­va.

Po­lice said Vial­va's son was awak­ened by nois­es com­ing from his fa­ther’s room and up­on check­ing saw a man he knows, who is known men­tal pa­tient at­tack­ing Vial­va with a knife. The sus­pect then at­tacked Vial­va's son and when Vial­va's step-daugh­ter en­tered the room she was al­so at­tacked. 

The three vic­tims were tak­en to seek med­ical at­ten­tion at the St James In­fir­mary where Vial­va was pro­nounced dead. Vial­va's son is ward­ed in a se­ri­ous con­di­tion.
The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed short­ly af­ter by mem­bers of the Spe­cial Pa­trol Unit. 
Supt George, Ag In­sp Bas­ant and Ag Sgt Adams vis­it­ed the scene and Cpl Lewis and par­ty from the Homi­cide Bu­reau are present­ly con­duct­ing en­quiries.
