Akil Sutherland also known as 'Daddy Red' was attempting to escape gunmen when he tried to jump over a fence but instead hooked up on a barb wire.
The gunmen caught up with him and shot him several times killing him on the scene. His body was found by residents hanging upside down against a concrete wall.
The incident occurred at about 6 pm near Broome Street, La Puerta Road in Diego Martin. Sutherland lived at La Puerta.
A motive is yet to be determined.
