During an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Maracas area, police officers executed a search warrant at a house on Old Bay Road, Maracas, where they found two firearms. Details follow in this press release from the TTPS:
One man was arrested, two firearms, ammunition and a quantity of marijuana were seized during an anti-crime exercise, which was conducted in the Maracas Bay district on Sunday 10th October, 2021.
During the exercise a search warrant was executed for firearms and ammunition at a house located at Old Bay Road, Maracas Bay. When officers searched the premises they found one Berretta pistol with 14 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition and one Taurus pistol with 11 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition. The officers took possession of the firearms and ammunition and a 48-year-old man was arrested in connection with this seizure.
A search was also conducted in a bushy area off Old Bay Road, Maracas Bay, where a blue and white plastic bag containing 80 grammes of marijuana was found and seized. PC Voisin is continuing enquiries.
The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Samaroo, Ag/Snr Supt Winston Maharaj, Ag/Supt Ramjohn, ASP Pariman, coordinated by Insp Bharath, supervised by Ag/Cpl Singh and included members of NED Coastal Patrol Unit and Maracas Bay Police Station.
