The Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices will be dis­trib­ut­ing 2020 COVID-19 so­cial sup­port cheques to cit­i­zens who were fi­nan­cial­ly af­fect­ed by the pan­dem­ic.

Ac­cord­ing to the min­istry, the cheques are now avail­able for col­lec­tion.

In a state­ment, the min­istry said it will fa­cil­i­tate the col­lec­tion of these cheques at its head of­fice, Cli­co build­ing, St Vin­cent Street, Port-of-Spain.

The dis­tri­b­u­tion of cheques be­gan yes­ter­day and will run through to Oc­to­ber 20, ac­cord­ing to the fol­low­ing sched­ule re­leased by the min­istry.

The dis­tri­b­u­tion of the cheques would take place in al­pha­bet­i­cal or­der, ac­cord­ing to the re­cip­i­ent’s sur­name.

The Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices has ad­vised that cit­i­zens in To­ba­go, who would be re­ceiv­ing cheques should col­lect them at the So­cial Wel­fare of­fice, lo­cat­ed at Wil­son Road, Scar­bor­ough, To­ba­go. Those cheques will be avail­able from Oc­to­ber 11 and con­tin­u­ing.

The min­istry added those col­lect­ing their cheques must present their iden­ti­fi­ca­tion cards used when they ap­plied for COVID re­lief.

It has al­so ad­vised that to safe­guard the health and safe­ty of the min­istry’s staff and clients, peo­ple are kind­ly ad­vised to re­main six feet apart when lin­ing up for ser­vice.

Mem­bers of the pub­lic vis­it­ing the Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vice’s of­fices are al­so asked to wear face masks and com­ply with on-site se­cu­ri­ty.
