There were no ad­di­tion­al COVID-19 deaths in the coun­try yes­ter­day, how­ev­er, the Min­istry of Health con­firmed 27 new cas­es mak­ing 5,154 peo­ple to be in­fect­ed lo­cal­ly since March 12.

The min­istry, how­ev­er, not­ed that the num­ber of pos­i­tive cas­es re­port­ed usu­al­ly re­flects the sam­ples tak­en dur­ing the last three days and not the last 24 hours.

The num­ber of ac­tive cas­es al­so con­tin­ued to de­crease yes­ter­day as 79 peo­ple were re­leased from the min­istry’s care; 15 peo­ple were dis­charged from pub­lic health fa­cil­i­ties while 64 peo­ple were re­leased from home self-iso­la­tion as re­cov­ered com­mu­ni­ty cas­es. These re­leas­es make 3,452 peo­ple to re­cov­er from the virus lo­cal­ly.

The num­ber of ac­tive cas­es now stands at 1,609 of which 1,466 are in home self-iso­la­tion.

The min­istry al­so rec­ti­fied an omis­sion on Oc­to­ber 9 where six re­cov­ered com­mu­ni­ty cas­es were omit­ted from the “To­tal Re­cov­ered Cas­es” on its dash­board. The dash­board now re­flects these cas­es.

There re­mained 103 peo­ple in pub­lic health fa­cil­i­ties; 60 at the Cou­va Mul­ti-Train­ing Fa­cil­i­ty, 21 at the Cau­ra Hos­pi­tal, three at the Ari­ma Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, one at the Au­gus­tus Long Hos­pi­tal and 18 at the Scar­bor­ough Re­gion­al Hos­pi­tal.

There were al­so 40 peo­ple at step down/tran­si­tion­al fa­cil­i­ties; 26 at the Clax­ton Bay Cor­rec­tion­al Fa­cil­i­ty, 12 at UWI’s Debe Cam­pus, and two in To­ba­go.

There were 142 pa­tients in state quar­an­tine fa­cil­i­ties.
