Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices vis­it­ed Ele­cia Bla­con Corbin, moth­er of four chil­dren, and con­duct­ed an as­sess­ment on her liv­ing sit­u­a­tion. The min­istry says that as­sis­tance will be ren­dered to the fam­i­ly. De­tails fol­low in this press re­lease.

"In an ef­fort to bring re­lief and pro­vide on­go­ing as­sis­tance to the Tabaquite fam­i­ly of four chil­dren, fol­low­ing news­pa­per re­ports on Sep­tem­ber 9, 2022, staff of the Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices con­duct­ed a vis­it yes­ter­day, Sep­tem­ber 12, 2022. 

Pri­or to the vis­it, the Min­istry, through its Na­tion­al So­cial De­vel­op­ment Pro­gramme (NS­DP) con­tact­ed Ele­cia Bla­con Corbin, moth­er of four chil­dren, and ob­tained rel­e­vant in­for­ma­tion on the house­hold sit­u­a­tion and an as­sess­ment on her fam­i­ly’s im­me­di­ate re­quire­ments was al­so com­plet­ed. 

Dur­ing the vis­it, the Min­istry was able to con­duct fur­ther as­sess­ments on the hous­ing struc­ture, plumb­ing fa­cil­i­ties, and elec­tri­cal wiring, and al­so pro­vide in­for­ma­tion on how as­sis­tance could be ren­dered to the fam­i­ly through the var­i­ous grants avail­able. Un­der the Mi­nor House Re­pair As­sis­tance Grant, per­sons can ac­cess $15,000.00 in ma­te­ri­als on­ly for the re­pair/up­grade of dwelling hous­es. Ad­di­tion­al­ly, of­fi­cers from the Min­istry’s Na­tion­al Fam­i­ly Ser­vices Di­vi­sion were on hand to sched­ule coun­selling ses­sions for the fam­i­ly mem­bers. 

The Min­istry of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices re­mains com­mit­ted to its man­date of help­ing, em­pow­er­ing and trans­form­ing the lives of all per­sons, par­tic­u­lar­ly those who are most in need."
