Ministry of Social Development and Family Services visited Elecia Blacon Corbin, mother of four children, and conducted an assessment on her living situation. The ministry says that assistance will be rendered to the family. Details follow in this press release.
"In an effort to bring relief and provide ongoing assistance to the Tabaquite family of four children, following newspaper reports on September 9, 2022, staff of the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services conducted a visit yesterday, September 12, 2022.
Prior to the visit, the Ministry, through its National Social Development Programme (NSDP) contacted Elecia Blacon Corbin, mother of four children, and obtained relevant information on the household situation and an assessment on her family’s immediate requirements was also completed.
During the visit, the Ministry was able to conduct further assessments on the housing structure, plumbing facilities, and electrical wiring, and also provide information on how assistance could be rendered to the family through the various grants available. Under the Minor House Repair Assistance Grant, persons can access $15,000.00 in materials only for the repair/upgrade of dwelling houses. Additionally, officers from the Ministry’s National Family Services Division were on hand to schedule counselling sessions for the family members.
