Min­is­ter of So­cial De­vel­op­ment Don­na Cox vis­it­ed the Min­istry’s Point Fortin Lo­cal Board Of­fice to hear staff con­cerns and ad­dress any is­sues they may have. Among the is­sues raised by staff was a need for suit­able ac­com­mo­da­tions.

Not­ing their con­cerns Min­is­ter Cox prompt­ed the Min­istry to find suit­able and safe ac­com­mo­da­tion for both clients and staff. She fur­ther in­di­cat­ed that she has en­list­ed the as­sis­tance of the MP to source a staff and client-friend­ly lo­ca­tion.

Staff al­so raised con­cerns about client in­flux, health, safe­ty and ac­ces­si­bil­i­ty. Min­is­ter Cox en­cour­aged staff to en­sure that the clients they serve are treat­ed with dig­ni­ty and re­spect.

Min­is­ter of So­cial De­vel­op­ment and Fam­i­ly Ser­vices, Sen­a­tor the Ho­n­ourable Don­na Cox, paid an im­promp­tu vis­it to the Min­istry’s Point Fortin Lo­cal Board Of­fice, on Fri­day 19th No­vem­ber 2021 to hear staff con­cerns and ad­dress any is­sues they may have.

Min­is­ter Cox was ac­com­pa­nied by staff of the Min­istry and was joined by Mem­ber of Par­lia­ment for the area, Kennedy Richards. Dur­ing the vis­it, staff mem­bers were able to re­lay their con­cerns to the Min­is­ter, in­clud­ing the need for suit­able ac­com­mo­da­tion.

Not­ing their con­cerns, Min­is­ter Cox in­formed staff that the COVID-19 pan­dem­ic im­pact­ed the way we share pub­lic spaces and has fur­ther prompt­ed the Min­istry to look in­to find­ing suit­able and safe ac­com­mo­da­tion for both clients and staff.
