A woman escaped death after a concrete light pole and transformer fell on her windshield while driving through Pleasantville.
First responders and T&TEC workers at the scene described her near death encounter as a miraculous escape.
She was driving behind a cement truck in her black Kia Rio along Chaconia Drive around 10.30 am when the truck pulled down the overhead electrical lines and pole.
"She got away twice because if the impact did not kill her, the voltage could have," said a T&TEC employee.
The woman declined an interview. San Fernando Mayor Robert Parris told reporters the woman was lucky to have survived. He said vehicles exceeding a certain height are supposed to inform the city corporation when they are passing through certain areas but they received no notification. He said they will be looking at enforcing that law. Fire fighters of the Mon Repos Fire Station, officers of the Mon Repos Police Station and T&TEC are investigating.
