The search for missing Piparo resident Nelvin Ali ended in tragedy yesterday, after his body was discovered in the village.
Members of the registered Hunters' Search and Rescue Team (HSRT), led by commander Shamsudeen Ayube, had been searching for Ali when they found his body around 1.10 pm in the Dindial Settlement area.
In a Facebook post, the group said the body was reportedly found covered with bamboo, with Ali's hands bound and a belt around his neck.
Ali, 57, was last seen on Thursday at about 6.30 pm.
"Our deepest condolences go out to Nelvin's family, friends, co-workers and loved ones during this extremely difficult time," the HSRT said in its post.
Police were still processing the scene up to late yesterday evening.
